Mart Poom has mystery leg injury
Mart Poom faces the fact of not being able to play in any game for Sunderland during his present loan spell with the club.

Mart is having problems with a leg injury that is causing stiffness in his lower leg. Black Cats manager Howard Wilkinson say’s Poom will have pressure tests on his shin and may even need an operation.

Derby County loaned Poom out to Sunderland to reduce their wage bill and due to remain with Sunderland till the New Year. The FA had given Sunderland special dispensation to take Poom on loan while the transfer window was shut. With Thomas Sorensen and Thomas Myhre out injured Sunderland needed cover for Jurgen Macho who now appears to have made the keepers position his own.

Talk of a permanent move for Poom may now have to be altered subject to the medical reports.
