John Gregory makes his second signing as Derby County manager. He has negotiated the signing of 36 year old Newcastle midfielder Robert Lee(born West Ham 1st Feb 1966).
Gregory's first signing, Warren Barton, also from Newcastle United, may well have influenced Lees decision to come to Pride Park.

Lee has decided that he didn't want to go to West Ham, his home town and the club he supported as a boy,but would rather help the Rams in their fight against relegation. His experience at club and his 21 England International appearances will help a desperately light weight Derby midfield.

Robert has played 292 league game in his time at Saint James's Park after his move in July 1983 from Charlton Athletic. Lee has only scored one goal this season in a thrilling 4-3 win over Champions Manchester United on 15th September last year.
Ironically it was in the return match against Manchester United on January 2nd this year that Robert played his final game for Newcastle.
