A strong Rams side swept aside local rivals Chesterfield at Saltergate tonight (Wed 31st July) to win the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Branko Strupar

A goal under 60 seconds by Branko Strupar set the tone for the rest of the game. Strupar added a second for the Rams after 24 minutes with a smartly taken header.

Having done all the damage to Chesterfields Cup hopes John Gregory took Branko Strupar and Malcolm Christie off at Half time.

Derby looked home and dry didn’t add to the scoreline till four minutes from time when reserve team striker Marcus Tudgay struck to make the score 3-0 and the Cup safe for Derby.
A crowd of around one and a half thousand watched as Danny Higginbotham, who was making his first appearance in the pre-season games after a slight injury, held aloft the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Let's hope it is not the only trophy a Rams captain will be holding aloft this season.
