Jake Buxton has become the first signing for the 2009-10 season. Jake is a 24 year-old defender and will join the Rams from Burton Albion next month after his current contract runs out.
Buxton stands nearly 6ft tall and is renowned as a tough tackling defender. He started his career with Mansfield town at youth level and played 151 times for the Stags first team.
Jake joined up with Nigel Clough in August 2008 at the Pirelli stadium and has impressed Clough during their time together with the Brewers, for whom he played 40 times.
The jury is out on Buxton's ability to move up to Championship level and appears to be a huge gamble by Clough in an effort to re-build the Rams shacky back line...
