Ade Akinbiyi is wanted by Davies
Billy Davies has confirmed he is interested in bringing Sheffield United striker Ade Akinbiyi to Pride Park on loan. The former Wolves, Stoke and Leicester hitman has failed to secure a regular first team place at Bramall Lane since their promotion to the Premiership.

Davies confirmed to the Derby Evening Telegraph that he is looking to sign the near 32-year-old on a temporary basis: "He is on the list but that is as far as it goes. We need to bring in a striker or two to help out Steve Howard.

Adeola Akinbiyi, to give him his correct name, was born in Hackney on the 10th October 1974 and has scored 126 goals in 344 league games in his 13 year career. He has had several big money moves in this time, including a £3.5 million move from Bristol City to Wolves, from there he moved on to East Midlands rivals Leicester City for £5million, then on to Crystal Palace for £2.2 million. His latest move from Burnley to Sheffield United cost the blades a cool £1.75million.

The grand total for Akinbiyi's 13 year career comes to £14.5 million in transfer money.

It remains to be seen if Davies is successful in bringing the striker to Pride Park and if the striker just two weeks short of his 32nd Birthday could be the right player to drive the Rams forward.
