Derby County could be on the verge of yet another devastating cash demand. The Rams have a £85,000 fine hanging over them for ill-discipline.

The FA had originally handed Derby County a £100,000 for the yellow and red card tally that it had received during the 2000-2001 season. The payment of the fine was suspended pending further reviews of club discipline. During last season the situation had not improved and the Rams were ordered to pay £15,000 of the fine. The remaining £85,000 was again suspended pending this season’s record of discipline.

The Rams at present have had 34 yellow cards and 4 red cards during the season. So the FA will be wanting to talk to John Gregory yet again about the poor record. With the Rams in sever financial difficulty the FA may have looked kindly on Derby but it is not their first warning and the remaining £85,000 fine already imposed now looks as though it will have to be paid in full.
