Saul Deeney hopes to be signed on this week by the Rams
Derby County are looking to tie up the signing of Saul Deeney the 26 year old former Notts County and Burton Albion keeper.

Deeney has worked under Rams manager, Nigel Clough at Burton, only leaving the club after failing to negotiate a new contract that was offered on reduced terms. Saul has played for his country , Northern Ireland at youth and U21 level.

Saul is seen as the reserve keeper for Derby if he signs this week. He will be deputy to Stephen Bywater, after Lewis price was loaned out to enable him to get first team experience. The Rams are also thought to be releasing Roy Carroll (31).

Nigel Clough has spoken about the possible move for another of his former charges, John Brayfield. The Crewe right back played under Clough from 2006 until 2008, when he transferred to Crewe for £130,000. Crewe are said to interested in cashing in on Brayfield but only if Derby are t match their valuation of the player. Clough stated "We are still waiting on a couple of departures". So the Rams look to be lowering the wage bill before any decision is made on the Crewe valuation of Brayfield.

Clough has also said that there may be at least one or possibly two season long or lengthy loan signings in the 12 days until the season starts...
