Police to investigate Wembley ticket sales

Derby County fans could face fines of up to £5,000 for selling on tickets they have for Wembley.

Derbyshire police have issued a statement which says that officers will be monitoring the situation and will watch auction sites such as Ebay to catch supporters selling the tickets.

Under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 and superseded by the Violent Crime Reduction Bill it is an offence to sell a ticket for a designated football match or otherwise dispose of a ticket to another person, including via the Internet.

Sgt Rathbone of Derbyshire police has said that they want to make supporters aware of the fact that they are breaking the law and it is only licensed outlets that should be selling the Wembley tickets.

Derby County have also come down hard on supporters who are touting the tickets. They have said that people found guilty of selling tickets on will face being removed from the Rams data base and possibly banned from buying tickets for future Rams matches.
