The club are to begin a second round of interviews having been inunadated with applicants keen to fill the post at Pride Park.
County Managing director Mike Horton told BBC Radio Derby: "It could take another 10 days to go through the process.
"We're getting people contacting us who I'd say are of significantly higher quality than the original applicants who came forward."
