A shocking report in the News of the World today says that the FA’s bung squad are looking into the clubs foreign signings during the reign of Jim Smith and Colin Todd.

The FA are said to be concerned over the transfers of Mart Poom from Tallinn FC during 1999, whilst the Bald Eagle was in charge at the club.

Other transfers are said to concern Luciano Zavagno and now departed from the club, François Grenet. Frenchman Grenet was said to have been offered to clubs around Europe for £1million, Derby eventually bought him for £3million.

Esaban Fuertes
Estaban Fuertes again comes back to haunt Derby as he is yet another player who’s transfer is under scrutiny. The £2.3million striker was bought to the club in 1999. His stay was not a long one as immigration officials refused him entry back into Britain as there was irregularities with the Argentinean’s passport.

A little more worrying is the claim that the Rams have been ordered by their bank to make £10million in transfers during the January transfer window. We wait to see what the outcome of the investigation and bank directives are in a few weeks time.
