With just three league wins in 2017 out of 14 games played the Rams are seing themselves fal down the table alarmingly and all chances of finishing in the top six are now a very, very long shot.

Will Steve McClaren pay the price and be sacked ? Well they always say you should never return to a club once you leave but you have to look at the wider picture when you talk about sacking the manager.

Derby County were in real trouble at the foot of the table when Steve McClaren sensationally returned to Pride Park on the 12th October 2016. The run that took them up to 5th in the Championship was nothing short of amazing, but that raises another question. How can a team or squad of players play so well and achieve so much. Then fall from grace in such a dramatic fashion?

Derby and McClaren really need to address any issues within the squad immediately and he already indicated he will be looking to players to improve greatly during the run-in to the Championship season or heads will roll.
