Jones is no stranger to Rams boss Billy Davies, he came on loan to Preston during Davies' time as manager there. In fact this was where Jones has had all of his league experience, playing 21 times and scoring 3 times for North End. He has played for Manchester United but only in 2 league cup ties.
Davies has tracked Jones for a while but United have been reluctant to let the youngster go before they were knocked out of the league cup last week by Southend United.
