Supersonic Gregory clocked at 111mph
Rams manager John Gregory has been given a 56-day driving ban following a court case at Woking Magistrates court.

The Derby County manager was caught driving at 111 mph on a stretch of the M25 In Surrey. When questioned Gregory told police that he was rushing to be with his daughter who was ill following giving birth to his first Grandchild.

There was controversy during the hearing as police officers had lost the calibrated certificate, which is used to render the speed checking device reading valid.
The court however deemed that the reading was correct and accepted the police officers word that the document previously described had been in a log that was left in the police vehicle and the vehicle had now left service with Surrey police.

Mr Gregory was also given a £1,500 fine and ordered to pay £260 court costs. The offence occurred before Gregory took over managership of Derby County and an ironic twist to the story is that Gregory had just overseen Aston Villa's 2-1 victory over the Rams on January 12th 2002.
