Bents goal was scored aptly onthe fifth of November, Bonfire Night, and his skillful rocket gave the Rams a win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The final five in the running for the goal of the season are Darren Bent (Derby County), Adam Hammill (Barnsley), Lee Tomlin (Bristol City), Steve Sidwell (Brighton) and Michael Doyle (Portsmouth).

Bent's goal came over his shoulder and the volley hit the roof of the net with the goalkeeper left stranded. Commentry at the time of the goal indicated this was 'the' or one of the goals of the season.

Fingers crossed for Darren next Sunday evening when the final vote will be by the assembled football dignitaries.
