A Rams reserve side lost 1-0 last night in the Bass Charity Vase against Burton Albion.

Mark Lillis’s side, which included several first team players from last season, had plenty of the ball but lacked the killer instinct.

It was left to Albion’s ex Forest and England International Nigel Clough to give the home side a one nil win, his strike coming in the 71st minute.

It is unclear at the moment if Derby will play any further part in the competition as there are 7 teams taking part and involves a very complicated totting up system to determine who goes into the final.

Derby County had earlier beaten Stoke City 2-1 in the competition.
