Are the Rams as good as Barnsley?

Well Barnsley have proved it can be done and with a goal from a player who hasn't scored since September 2007. Are Derby any different to Barnsley? Surely not, but do they have the fight and the ambition to show the rest of the Premiership that they can compete at this level.

I have been sadly reminded that Derby County have not won a game of football on a Saturday for a whole year, should they fail to beat Manchester United next weekend. The records keep piling up for the Rams and unwanted records at that.

Will we beat the 15 point mark and not become the worst Premiership team of all time? I somehow doubt it, as belief and pride are words that the present team do not know anything about.

Pride in pulling on the kit is what Derby seem to lack
Rumours and counter rumours about Kenny Miller leaving and Giles Barnes doing the same in the summer are not giving a firm platform for Paul Jewell to work with. Maybe that is the reason for the sudden shock season long loan of Craig Fagan back to his old club Hull City. So where will it end and when will we have loyal footballers proud to pull on the black and white of Derby County?

Maybe, just maybe, if the Rams were watching the Tykes, they can achieve a result and drag this sorry season out of the gutter and return to play Manchester United with confidence and pride rather than expecting yet another lesson on how to play football.

Come on guys give us something to be proud of !

Congratulations Barnsley, an abject lesson in determination and will to win...
