Rams Chairman of football Adam Pearson indicates the Rams will not be spending heavily
With the Rams struggling to win matches and play attractive football it is surprising but not unexpected that Adam Pearson, Derby County's Chairman of football has today stated that there will be no heavy spending in the January transfer window.

Pearson has said that the club will do some business but nothing major. The Rams have already made money available for Luke Varney, currently on loan from Charlton. Varney is expected to sign for the Rams on a permenant basis, with the fee being in the region of £1m. Add-ons will take that figure up to £1.5m if certain targets are reached.

It now looks like the Rams board of directors have effectively said to Jewell that he has brought in the players he wanted and must now make them play and take the Rams away from the trap door into the third tier of English football.

Jewell is well aware of the pressure building on him to produce the expected mid to high table finish after signing eight new players during the last January transfer window only Roy Carroll, currently on gardening leave, has started games on a regular basis.
Pearson and Jewell are the men who must watch the pennies and get the current Rams squad competative again
