Grenet offered in Europe for less than £1m
Reports in today's Sunday papers suggest that the Derby County directors and transfer negotiators have once again shot themselves in the foot.

It is claimed that the £2.2million/£3million (after appearances) transfer of Francois Grenet should have actually cost the Rams less than £1million.
Grenet was reported as costing less than £1million prior to interest from Derby County and it is now thought that outside influences (agents) may have bumped up the price when they heared of interest from the Premiership.

Derby County is said to have already been in touch with Grenet's previous club Bordeaux to seek clarification about the deal.

The Rams are also asking how much agents of Grenet have made out of the deal. The transfer fee has to pass through the FA and Derby expects to hear from them on where the money has gone.

Grenet deal under investigation

This present situation is the latest of a long line of poor decisions or ill-advised moves by Derby County. With millions of pounds at stake the question has to be asked of the competence of the scouts and transfer negotiators at Pride Park.
