Today was the final Premiership game to be played at Pride Park, and some are relieved that the pressure to survive was off.

Once again one mistake was enough to deprive Derby of any points at home. A scenario that has cost the Rams their place in the Premiership.

Lee Bowyer
Lee Bowyer scores the final goal at Pride Park in a 6 year Premiership adventure for the Rams
The game was only 16 minutes old when Lee Bowyer pounced on a wayward pass in the middle of the park his run was too quick for the Rams defence and as Poom advanced the Leeds midfielder placed the ball past him with great ease. If Sven Goran Eriksson witness's this goal it will no doubt make him contemplate giving Bowyer a chance in this years English World Cup squad.

Derby never really troubled the Leeds goal during the first half but Leeds couldn't find guile or skill to kill off the game before the half-time break. Branko Strupar was obviously not in the mood to give 100% and it was obvious that he had half an eye on a Belgian World Cup Place and didn't want to injure himself with reckless or even full-bodied tackles or challenges.

This game had all the hallmarks of an end of season game with Leeds looking secure in a European place and Derby getting the maps out for Grimsby again.

Graham Poll
All together now!....Oh! Graham Poll is .....
There where some entertaining moment, one that springs to mind is the chant coming from the Rams supporters in the East stand. “Oh! Graham Poll is a f**king ar*e hole” to the rhythm usually reserved for Andy Cole as he scored when with Man Unt. Mr Poll having his usual mediocre game, missing the glaringly obvious, like the ill-tempered throwing of the ball into the advertising hoardings by Gary Kelly. Yet booking Derby players for innocuous tackles.

As the curtain came down for the final time on a Premiership match at Pride Park (at least for 12 months) it was pleasing to hear all the fans asking each other if they will be having their usual season ticket and staying in the same place. With a final handshake they leave with renewed hope that John Gregory can produce a team worthy of gracing the Pride Park pitch and with commitment to the club and fans that hope and wish for a speedy return to the Premiership.
