Craig Burley made a dramatic return to the Derby County line-up by denying Leicester City two valuable points in the East Midlands derby clash at Pride Park Burley, who had not figured for the Rams since January, grabbed a last-gasp equaliser to shatter the Foxes in the second minute of stoppage time.

The Scottish international latched onto a knock down from Fabrizio Ravanelli and lifted the ball over Ian Walker to spark off mass celebrations from the Derby team.

It made amends for Burley's first-half miss when he was again through on goal and that threatened to prove costly as Leicester recovered from a shaky start to go in front.

Ravanelli also wasted a good chance when he headed straight at Walker but there was no let off for Derby when the Foxes exploited a set piece.

Skipper Matt Elliott headed down a 26th minute corner from Muzzy Izzet for Brian Deane to mark his return from injury with a simple tap in.

Leicester should have scored again early in the second half when Alan Rogers crossed from the right but Trevor Benjamin headed straight at Lee Grant.

Derby's hopes of getting back in the game were dented when Georgi Kinkladze was taken off in the 58th minute after falling awkwardly but City still failed to get the second goal that would have made the game safe.

Benjamin was denied again in the 66th minute when Elliott lobbed the ball into the six-yard box but the big striker's header was well saved by Grant.

Kinkladze's replacement, on-loan Everton striker Nick Chadwick almost set up an equaliser in the 84th minute when his low cross was met by Ravanelli at the near post but Walker saved well.

Leicester were heading towards another three points when they were caught on the edge of their own penalty area and when the ball fell to Burley, this time his aim was perfect.
