Derby's woes go on as new manager Darren Wassall sees them lose to MK Dons.
Derby County started life under new head coach Darren Wassall with a defeat as MK Dons boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 victory at the iPro Stadium.
Wassall, who replaced Paul Clement on Monday, saw his team dominate possession but create few chances before the visitors scored with a Jake Forster-Caskey free-kick eight minutes from time to leave Derby without a league win in 2016.
Wassall made two changes for his first game in charge and also switched to a 4-4-2 formation but his team posed few problems in the first 20 minutes for an MK Dons side that had come to stifle Derby.
Cyrus Christie tried to change that with a surge down the right that took him to the edge of the area before he was stopped and Craig Bryson had a shot charged down from a corner in the 28th minute.
Derby got behind the Dons defence for the first time a minute later when Bradley Johnson played Ince in on the right but his low cross was scrambled clear and there was another opening for the home side in the 32nd minute.Christie was involved again, whipping the ball in from the right but Ince failed to make contact before Johnson hooked his shot high over the bar from 10 yards.
Derby were starting to exert pressure and they went close in the 34th minute when Jason Shackell glanced Jeff Hendrick's free-kick just wide as he stole in at the back post.
MK Dons had their best move when Samir Carruthers made a strong run through the middle and set up Rob Hall but he curled his shot well wide from the right edge of the box.
Paul Martin was forced into his first save of the afternoon in the 44th minute when he could only parry Hendrick's 20-yard drive and he had to claw away a Chris Martin shot in the final seconds of what had been a disappointing first half.
There was more urgency about Derby at the start of the second with Johnson almost turning in a cross at the back post before Ince fired just wide from the edge of the area in the 57th minute.
MK Dons had offered little going forward but Carruthers made a strong run into the Derby box to force a corner that was cleared but the visitors stunned the iPro Stadium in the 82nd minute by taking the lead.Derby conceded a free-kick on the right corner of the penalty area and when Forster-Caskey whipped the ball over the wall, Scott Carson could only palm it into the roof of the net.
The visitors had defended superbly but Derby had a chance in the 90th minute when Marcus Olsson crossed from the left and Andreas Weimann glanced a header just wide of Martin's left post
