Zavagno strike not enough for Rams
The Rams reserves couldn't come up with a 5-goal victory, which would have put them in with a chance of winning the FA Barclaycard reserve League for the third time in successive years.

It was in fact Ipswich who won the game by two goals to one. Ipswich took the lead in the 21st minute, Darren Bent tucking the ball past Andy Oakes in the Rams goal.

The Rams where on level terms with the tractor boys in the 27th minute when a well stuck shot from 25 yards by Luciano Zavagno found it's way into the back of the Ipswich net.

Ipswich's Championship winning goal came just after the half time break. It was a good piece of individual skill by Darren Ambrose. His quick feet took him past a couple of Rams defenders before calmly slotting the ball past Andy Oakes.

Derby's final disappointment of the night was the dismissal of Frenchman Youl Mawene. He was sent off after handling a through ball when deemed the last defender.

The Rams reserves will now finish the season in third place in the league. The ironic thing is that Derby have more points this season than when winning their second Championship last season.
