Derby County reserves had to settle for a draw in their game against midlands rivals Leicester City. The final score being 2-2 after a bizarre goal in the final minutes gave the Foxes a share of the points.

Robbie Mustoe, a player John Gregory hopes to sign on a free transfer from Middlesbrough joined the Rams reserves for this game and scored on his reserve debut.

It was Leicester City who drew first blood at Eton Park, home of Burton Albion and new venue for several of this season’s Rams reserve games. Tommy Wright giving the Foxes the lead in the 28th minute.

Brian O'Neil

It took Derby until the 42nd minute to draw level when a sweetly taken goal from Brian O’Neil made the halftime score 1-1. O’Neil who was playing his first game of the season since being injured in a pre-season game came through a full 90 minutes and may figure at some stage in Saturdays first team game against Stoke City.

With 20 minutes to go the Rams took the lead. A neat pass from Georgi Kinkladze saw Robbie Mustoe score from just outside the 6-yard box.

With time running out it looked like Derby where on for another 3 points but lady luck stepped in for Leicester and a clearance by Rams defender Jackson hit Leicester’s Woolard and the ball looped agonisingly over Lee Grant in the Rams goal and into the net.
