Kinkladze disappointing
With a very strong reserve team taking to the pitch at the Valley last night, Derby expected to increase the unbeaten run of seven matches. Alas it was not to be and the Rams where well beaten by Charlton.

Things started to go wrong in the 5th minute when a speculative ball was deflected off the foot of Youl Mawene. The Rams keeper Lee Camp picked the ball up and the referee awarded a free kick to Charlton on the edge of the Derby 6 yard area.
The resulting free kick was smashed into the Rams goal by Mattias Svensson to give Charlton the lead.

The Rams kept the advantage to Charlton down to one until the closing minutes of the first half when a corner for Charlton appeared to have been dealt with by Rams keeper Camp, but the unlucky lad dropped the ball has he landed and Pringle was on hand to score Charltons second.
Branko Strupar

Bad news then for the Rams at half time but tempered slightly by the fact that Branko Strupar completed the half with no ill effects and even managed one of his superb free kicks which was deflected wide.
Billy McEwan took no chances with the striker after his long injury lay-off and substituted Strupar at half time.

Into the second half and the Rams couldn't find an answer to the two goal gap. Georgi Kinkladze was substituted after a very disappointing 70 minute display by Ian Evatt.

With one minute on the clock remaining Charlton sealed the win with another goal from Mattias Svensson.
Derby immediately went to the other end from the kick-off and a 25 yard drive from Adam Bolder found its way past Sasa Ilic to give the Rams a consolation goal.

Derby now drop to second in the Reserve League table below Arsenal but the Rams have a game in hand on the Gunners and hope to get back to winning ways next week when they take on Coventry City in the third consecutive away match for the Reserves.
