Derby County reserves returned to the top of the FA Premier Reserve League (south) last night after beating Former leaders Arsenal 0-1.

The Rams 20-year-old defender Ian Evatt scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute. His shot from the edge of the penalty area was too good for Arsenal keeper Graham Stack.

Derby should have taken the lead 25th minute when a penalty was awarded following a foul in the area on Darryl Powell. The resulting Penalty was taken by Adam Bolder but was placed wide of the post. The reserves taking after the first team in this respect, the first team having missed the last 3 penalties in a row.

The Rams reserves now take over in top spot in the league following this win. They leapfrog Arsenal and now have a two-point lead and two games in hand over second place Arsenal.
