Born in South Shields on the 17th July 1959 Bobby Davison was destined to become one of Derby County's greatest goal scorers and heroes in modern times.

Davison cost a mere £80,000 when he was bought from Halifax in November 1982. He was the newly appointed manager, Peter Taylor's first signing. The money and confidence in him was repaid in full when Bobby scoring 98 goals in his first of two periods at the baseball ground. The second spell was on loan from Leeds United in the 1991 season and saw Bobby score his hundredth goal for Derby County. In fact he scored eight goals in just ten games in this spell at the club taking his total to 106 for the Rams.

Davison was a goal poacher with superb balance and that predatory instinct that every good goal scorer needs. His fitness and ability to stay out of trouble was show as he went on a run of 126 consecutive appearances in matches between September 1983 and November 1985.

There are Derby County players that maybe spring to mind more readily that Davison, But he will never be forgotten and can't you just hear the chants of “ooh Bobby Bobby, Bobby Bobby Bobby Bobby Davison”.

Some great news for all Bobby's fans is that he has now rejoined the Rams. He joins John Gregory's back-room staff and will be looking at Derby County's opponents and assessing their weakness's before the Rams play them. We wish Bobby every success in his new role at the club.
