Rob Lee is said to have ankle ligament damage after Saturday’s game with Grimsby. He is having tests today (Friday 27th Dec) and is not expected to take part in Saturday’s game against Reading.

It is hoped that Lee’s injury is only minor and will clear up soon but the list below documents just how long any ankle ligament injury can take to recover.

1st degree sprain. Difficulty walking, tenderness, swelling, no bruising or loss of function. Recovery time 4-6 weeks.

2nd degree sprain. Tearing sensation, pop or snap is felt, difficulty walking, swelling, and tenderness, bruising after 3-4 days after the injury. Recovery time 4-8 weeks.

3rd degree sprain. Slips out of place then back into place, massive swelling, sever tenderness, instability of the joint, walking not possible, surgery sometimes needed. Recovery time 6-12 weeks.

Although Rob’s injury is not thought serious and he is a good healer according to team mate Warren Barton. The recovery times for even first-degree sprains can be weeks rather than days.
