The 33 year old has only played 16 times for Middlesbrough this season scoring 3 goals. He was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday over the Christmas period but was only played twice during the 3-week loan spell.
Windass joined Middlesbrough for a fee of £600,000 just over a year ago. The rumour has it that Boro are looking for a fee of £1million for Windass. It is doubtful if John Gregory would be looking to spend any more than half that on a 33 year old, however there is said to be opposition to the move with Leicester City also keen on the striker.
