Carbonari in action
Horacio Carbonari
. Smith now second in command at Fratton Park is said to be keen to sign both player who he brought to Pride Park when he was then manager.

Both players have been told that their futures are not at Pride Park and Derby are very keen to get the high wage earners off the wage list.

Carbonari came with a very good reputation as a defender and was looking to gain a place in the Argentinean national squad. However his performances for Derby County where not always of the highest order and his fabled (bazooka) free kicks never materialised.

Bjorn Otto Bragstad
Bjorn Otto Bragstad couldn't adapt to the Premiership pace
Bragstad has had an even worse time as a Derby County player. He joined the Rams after being chased by the likes of Celtic and several other top teams.

He never really got to grips with life in the Premiership and even a loan spell to then first division Birmingham City ended in disaster as the Norwegian International was booed off the pitch in a match soon after his arrival. To spare Bjorn any further embarrassment he was sent home to Pride Park after only three games for the Blues.
