Rams Player of the Year Tommy Smith
Rams Player of the year curse seems set to strike yet again as Tommy Smith is reported to have not signed an extension to his contract.

Smith has a year left on his present contract but the 26 year-old who has scored 20 goals in 92 appearances for the Rams has not signed up for any further term at Pride Park. This has alerted several Championship teams including Southampton. George Burley is said to be keen to take Smith to Saint Mary's. Other sides interested include beaten play-off finalist's Leeds United.

If Smith was to move on the Rams would be looking in the region of £500,000 for the highly talented attacker.

Many fans are understandably concerned that last season's outstanding player for Derby County does not appear to be happy but it remains to be seen if he will be moving on before the Rams take to the field against Southampton on the 6th August. “It would be a tragedy to see Smith in the red and white stripes of Southampton rather than the black and white of Derby County” said one supporter.
