Glasgow Rangers have begun negotiations with Derby County for the signature of Kris Commons. The Ibrox side are said to have offered half a million pounds for Commons which may prompt the Rams ownership to sell.

The sale is dependent on Rangers chase for a defender to bolster their back-line and this may temper their offer for Commons. If however Blackpool sell Charlie Adams, Rangers have a sell-on clause, which would add to Rangers transfer kitty.

Conor Sammon
Conor Sammon move may hang on the sale of Commons and possibly the sale of Blackpool's Charlie Adam
Derby county could also be dependant on moves of other players if they intend to offer money to bring in Kilmarnock's 24 year-old striker Conor Sammon. The Rams are believed to be preparing a £400,000 bid for Sammon, who has scored 17 goals in 26 games this season for Killy.

Sammon was due to make a move to the Championship with Scunthorpe United. A fee had been agreed with the club but this fell through when Sammon rejected the move to Glanford Park.

No doubt there will be much burning of the midnight oil in the week of the transfer window...
