REPORT

A tournament held all over the UK for ex professionals aged 35 years and over gave the Nottingham and sky TV football outside the season and in build up to this summer's world cup

Derby who started well with an early lead through Shane Nicholson in the first game against Notts County never really got going in the tournament despite a strong team on paper

The Rams have a poor masters history anyway and luck wasn't about to change in Nottingham tonight

A master's debut for the Spaniard Inigo Idiakez who chipped in with two goals and showed touches of the quality that made him a firm favourite with the Derby faithful… Craig Ramage however showed touches of why he wasn't

Poole really could have done better in goal, Gee and Ramage rarely troubled and Sturridge has lost the pace and mobility that helped him to many a premiership goal

Two defeats saw both Derby and West Brom going home early, it wasn't pretty but a good night for the masses of forest fans that made the trip

A forest side who scored plenty of goals, 11 in total won the tournament beating a tired but resolute Wolves side giving the reds and there fans something to talk about for the next 20 years

Jason lee minus the pineapple that sported his head for many years was Sin Binned in the final creating a possible tense finish for the reds but it wasn't to be, they had enough to carry there way over the finish line and take there place in the Birmingham final

My player of the tournament.. Nottingham forest's Paul Evans whose brilliant hat trick almost single headedly gave the reds the trophy

From a Rams point of view.. and there was a fair few of us there, well it just wasn't to be, plenty of hope but no glory

Next year will be better… or will it?
