Inside the famous Baseball Ground
Monday 26th May 2003 marks yet another landmark in Derby County History. On that day the final game of football will be played on the famous Baseball Ground pitch.

The day will start off at 11-00am with an ex Rams playing in a game against opponents who are to donate £1,000 to Disability Direct, a charity based in Normanton. The game will be a 25 minutes each way affair and is an appetiser before the very last game.

This game will be played between people who have bid in an auction type event for the honour of playing in this historic match.

All of the players will be playing and maybe hoping to score the very last goal on the baseball ground. A very considerable honour if you consider it was the legendary Steve Bloomer who scored the very first goal there 108 years previously.

Unfortunately only a handful of people will be able to witness the final game at the Baseball Ground because of stand safety issues but Derby County are to video this historic last day.

The Baseball ground pitch is to be dug up on Tuesday 27th May and fans have an opportunity to buy a piece of the famous pitch for just £10 (last season’s season ticket holders pay £5). For this fans can walk away with a strip of turf measuring 5 feet by 16 inches.
