The BIG Interview - Morten Bisgaard

Last updated : 10 February 2005 By The Rambler

DerbyMad: Do you feel a weight has lifted off your shoulders with your first competitive goal for the Rams:

Morten Bisgaard: Yes I do in some ways. Because it seemed in some ways that I was the only player in the entire squad who hadn’t scored this season. I have been scoring goals in all of my career. It was great to get that first goal.

DM: To be fair you scored in a pre-season game at Chesterfield so it wasn’t as if supporters thought you could not score goals.

MB: True although that was a fluke goal. I have managed 2 or 3 goals in training as well. But it was quite frustrating not to have scored. I have been unlucky in some games though. To get that first goal, and in a win was good though.

DM: It can be like that can’t it. You only have to look at the number of on target shots that Tom Huddlestone have where the ball has hit someone and deflected wide etc., It’s not always down to bad finishing is it?

MB: You need a little bit of luck at times. It was great to get that first goal though. I can’t hide that. So hopefully I can push on from there and get a second one.

DM: It will be nice to get that second one as a winning goal at Craven Cottage this weekend

MB: That will be great. We have got a good team and all the pressure will be on Fulham. The odds are there for us to go and get a result. But they are a Premier league side. They have got quality and players that can decide the game for themselves. It is going to be difficult but not impossible.

DM: You have already managed a draw against them. Anything else you can manage against them can only be to your credit.

MB: Yes. The pressure is not on us now. It is on them. I understand that they are not performing very well. They have lost a few. If we can go and frustrate them, especially in the opening stages they will lose their composure and we can punish them.

DM: You will have to do it without two of your bigger players with Ian Taylor and Tom Huddlestone both suspended. How big a loss will they be?

MB: Obviously most of them have played in the majority of he games this season. It seems that we have found a formation that is working for us. To change that is not ideal for us. But we have other players that can come in and do a job for us so I’m not that worried but it would have been better if we had had the pair of them.

DM: As a continental player how do you view the Cup because there is a feeling over here that continental players don’t think that the Cup is an important competition.

MB: Obviously I can’t come here and say that I know too much about the FA Cup. But I have been watching the Final since I was a kid. I’ve watched some great finals. It was always something special because a lot of Danish fans love English football. Obviously it will be difficult for us to get to the final but personally I know some of the history of this Cup and know that it is an important competition.
