Taylor takes his medicine

Derby County captain Ian Taylor will sit out the next three games after the
club decided not to appeal against his sending off at Brighton on Saturday.

Manager George Burley was considering an appeal against the dismissal but,
after viewing video evidence of the 61st minute red card, will take the
issue no further.

An unsuccessful appeal against the ban could have seen the punishment
increased and Taylor banned for more games.

The skipper, who has been charged with violent conduct following the tangle
with Leon Knight, will now miss the FA Cup Fourth Round replay trip to
Fulham on Saturday, Rotherham away (or possible FA Cup Fifth Round tie at
Bolton) a week later and the home match against Burnley on Wednesday 23
February.

Rams boss Burley said: "We are not entirely happy with the decision and feel
our captain was dealt with a bit harshly, but it's not worth risking having
him out for more than three matches so we'll accept the punishment."
