Robbie Savage returns to the Rams squad after injury not as bad as expected
Derby County will hopefully have Captain Robbie Savage fit for Saturday's match against Wigan at the JJB stadium.

Savage had a severely bruised foot following the Spurs game on the 16th February but after leaving Pride Park on crutches it was later found out that no break or other damage was done.

Manager Paul Jewell has praised Savage for playing before the Spurs game despite being in pain and needing pain killing injections to play. Jewell has said he hopes to get Robbie playing football to his true potential and pain free and then hoped he would show the Derby crowd why he was bought to the club.

Wigan may give a debut to Erik Edman, the defender was bought during the January transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur but suffered a calf strain immediately after joining Wigan.

Paul Jewell will be returning to Wigan for the first time since leading them to Premiership safety last season and the reception he gets will be interesting to see and hear.

The Rams go to Wigan looking for their first away win in the Premiership and only their second win from a season that has turned into a nightmare for the club. The fans have had to suffer heavy defeats and taunts from rival fans, media and the football pundits.

Now resigned to the drop into the Championship there is only pride to play for until May, then the real work begins for Paul Jewell and his men, as they fight to regain the Premiership status and with a team that has a chance of staying there...
