Rams win but fail to reach Wembley

A goal after just 7 minutes by Johnny Russell set the Rams on the road to victory and a record upset was very much on the cards.

Hull seemed to have no answer to the Derby attack, with Andreas Wiemann leading the fight back. His pace and skill on the wing proved too tricky for Hull to deal with and had he not had to retire through injury may well have proved to have been the catalist for a famous Rams victory.

Derby did score a second goal before the half time break, which had Hull fans biting their nails and had Craig Bryson been just a little more lucky in sorting out his feet as a cross came in to him may well have levelled the aggregate scores on the night.

Derby County now have to take a hard look at the squad and decide if a new manager is the way forward or if Darren Wassell gets the nod to keep the position he has had since mid February.
