Rams hope to have a brand new pitch for the start of the 2009-10 season
Derby County will run out onto a brand new pitch next season after last years pitch was taken up and re-sown. The Rams had replaced the playing surface last season but it was found that turning the pitch, as it is call, would benefit the playing surface.

The decision to re-lay the pitch was not taken lightly as it will be at a cost of £25,000 but Head Groundsman Andy Croft want a surface that will be the envy of all Championship and many Premiership sides.

The re-laying of the pitch has started and it is hope that a fine grassy pitch with 25mm of grass will great the players when they return to action in the final warm up game against Stoke City at Pride Park on the 1st August.

The re-seed of the pitch is thought to take around eight weeks to complete which coincidentally is the exact time until the Stoke game. Yes it's just eight weeks today (Saturday6th June) that the Rams will take to the pitch again...
