Luke Varney wanted on loan by the Rams
Bizarrely Derby County look set to bring in another striker on loan during the final day before the loan transfer window closes.

Luke Varney (26) is manager Paul Jewell's target and hopes to sign the striker before the 5.00pm deadline tonight. Varney is an East midlands lad being born in Leicester. He played for Quorn before being bought for £50,000 by his first league team Crewe in 2003. His move to Charlton Athletic in 2007 has not been too successful, although injury has limited his games for the Addicks he has Played 58 times in all competitions and scoring 11 goals. His first goal for Charlton ironically coming against his home town side Leicester City, who he supported as a boy.

Jay McEveley
Jay McEveley wanted by Charlton
Even more bizarre news is that A defender Jay McEveley is wanted by Charlton on loan as cover for a frail Charlton defence. This seems strange as the Rams have their own defensive frailties but it is thought Paul Jewell is looking for another central defensive player and possibly another midfield player before the emergency door closes at 5.00pm...
