Steve Davies has yet another injury that will now keep him side-lined until 2011
Derby county and striker Steve Davies have suffered a cruel blow to their season after Davies damages his knee ligaments during pre-season training.

The injury is so bad that Davies is not expected to feature in the Rams line-up this year. Rams head physic, Neil Sullivan has said he hopes Steve would regain full fitness at some point during the season but is unlikely to be in consideration for the Rams squad until next year.

Davies has been plagued by injury and was looking good in training. He has only played 20 games for the Rams since joining the club in 2008 and everyone at the club is devastated for the 22 year-old.

With Nigel Clough refusing to pay a substantial fee for Scunthorpe striker Gary Hopper yesterday, it could leave the Rams short of fire power up front this season. Derby now only have four fit strikers, with Kris Commons being an attacking midfielder rather than striker, the Rams are effectively down to just three players to get the goals.

Clough has stated that Steve was a key element in his plans for the forthcoming season, with just over three weeks until the league season kicks off the Rams look to have again succumbed to the injury jinx yet again...
