The Rams have made their first signing for next season with Australian U23 International Ruben Zadkovich. The Player is being brought in as a utility player that is at home at Right back and in midfield.

Zadkovich is currently with his home town side Sydney FC after spells with Q.P.R. and Nott's County two years ago. Ruben says he ha matured quite a lot since his day at Loftus Road and Meadow Lane. He has broken into the Australian U23 national set-up and has even played in the qualifying rounds for Australia in the Beijing Olympic team. It is unclear at the moment if Ruben will be taking part in the Olympics but he will not be arriving in Derby until 1st July. The Olympics start on the 8th August and go on until the 24th, which would coincide with Derby's first half dozen games in the Championship.

The decision taken by Zadkovich was made after talking to fellow Aussie Mile Sterjovski. He feels that his presence will help him settle into the squad. Ruben has signed on as a free agent and on a two year deal . The Rams beat of competition for his signature from Crystal Palace and Australian A league Champions Newcastle Jets.

Paul Jewell has said that Ruben impressed in training and was happy to offer the young Aussie another chance in English football...
