Steven Peter Wheatley dies aged 78
Steven Peter Wheatley ex-rams outside-right passes away aged 78
It was with sadness that Derby County mad was contacted yesterday with the sad news that Steven Peter Wheatley had passed away on September 23rd 2008 after a long illness.

Steve, as he was affectionatley known was an outside-right and played four times for the Rams, making his debut in a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea during the 1951-52 season. His other games for the Rams were the following season when he was in the Derby County side that won 3-1 over Sunderland at the baseball ground.

Steve's only defeat whilst playing for the Rams came in a game away from home against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Rams going down 3-1 in this game. The final outing for the Derby County first team for Steve occured on the 7th February 1953 when the Rams shared a 1-1 draw at home to Charlton Athletic.

After Peter left Derby County he went on to play for Boston United and Chesterfield.

Peter will be sadly missed by Son Stephen Daughter Joanne and the rest of his family. Our condolences go out to them all from everyone at Derby County Mad...
