Derby County, took a commanding and what looked like unbeatable lead at Half time against Scunthorpe tonight only to throw it away in the seventh minute of time added on at the end of the 90 minutes.

The Rams took the lead in the 30th minute with a goal from new signing Richard Keogh. Derby added just two minutes later with fellow defender Jake Buxton again heading home a set play.

The Rams took what looked a winning lead in the 43rd minute, with striker Theo Robinson opening this seasons account.

So Rams fans were satisfied at the break but hadn't  antisipated the fight Scunthorpe were about to put up. with 52 minutes gone Barcham pulled a goal back for the visitors. It looked like a consolation prize for the Irons but how wrong we were.

Jack Buxton struck immediately back for the Rams restoring their three goal advantage in the 53rd minute.

Grella brought the gap down to 4-2 with a goal in the 63rd minute and a goal from Grant gave Scunthorpe hope in the 73rd minute.

Hope for Scunthorpe looked to have been finally extinguished as Nathan Tyson scored the Rams fifth goal with just seven minutes left of the game.

The crowd of just 4724 then witness the Rams capitulation in an unbelievable 7th minute of time added on. A penalty was put away by Grant and took the game to extra time, just what the Rams didn't want with the new Championship season starting on Saturday.

With no further goals in extra time it was now down to penalties. These again looked as though they couldn't seperate the two teams but at 6-6 the Rams missed their spot kick and Scunthorpe scored theirs to take the tie...
