Rams look to extend defenders contract

Russell Anderson has impressed manager Nigel Clough during his spell with the Rams and hopes to stay for another season.
Nigel Clough has indicated that he would be prepared to offer Russell Anderson a new contract at the end of his present contract with the Rams which ends at the end of the season.

Anderson was released, by mutual consent, from his contract with Premiership Sunderland in January and Clough was pleased to offer the experienced Scottish International a chance to join his defensive players at Derby.

Clough sees Anderson as the experienced centre half who will join Shaun Barker, Jake Buxton and Dean Leacock at the centre of the Rams back-line.

Both Nigel Clough and his team of coaches have been impressed with the attitude and battling qualities that Anderson has displayed during his short time with the Rams. Although casual talks have already taken place to secure Andersons services for next season, the decision to re-sign him will only be taken when Derby's Championship status has been maintained...
