C:WindowsTempphp74E2.tmpDespite Mel Morris's comments that he wants Derby County to have a percentage of home grown Academy talent coming through into the Rams first team in time, Derby County are said to be very interested in Portsmouth's young starlet Conor Chaplin.

Derby are not alone in their interest as Liverpool were thought to be looking at the midfield/striker, but this was before the sacking of manager Brenan Rodgers at the weekend.

The Rams know full well what Chaplin is capable of, as he scored the 76th minute winner for Portsmouth in this seasons Capital One Cup competition. His record in the League Cup is superb having played twice and scored twice.

Despite only having 18 League appearances for Portsmouth, he has scored 3 goals and sparked interest at Championship and Premiership level. It is not thought that Chaplin would feature at present in any Rams first team but would be a good addition to the squad
