After a two month long chase, Derby County have confirmed that Shaun Barker, their number one target in the close season has now signed for the Rams.Twenty six year old Shaun Barker had been valued at £1m by his former club Blackpool. Although the eventual fee is still undisclosed but is rumoured to be around the £900,000 mark. It is unclear at present if there are add-ons that would make the transfer worth up to the million pound area but highly likely. Barker has signed a three year deal with the Rams.
The Rams beat Nottingham Forest for Barker's signiture, even though Barker was born in Nottingham and was a Forest supporter during his youth.
Nigel Clough will waste no time in placing his new signing into his squad and Barker is expected to figure in Saturday's pre-season friendly with Chesterfield....
