Peter Gadsby Rams chairman delivers his post transfer window speach
Derby County Chairman has delivered his statement following the closure of the transfer window for 2007.

Peter Gadsby has praised the hard work undertaken by Billy Davies and Trevor Birch during a transfer window that closed at midnight and saw the Rams invest another £3m in Scottish International Kenny Miller.

Mr Gadsby went on to say that the Rams were interested and enquired about many players in the last few weeks and for differing reasons many had to be abandoned. Some players were asking crazy money to come to the club, others just simply didn't want to come to Derby at this stage in our development.

The club has now invested £20m over the last 12 months on players it hopes will retain Derby County's position in the Premiership and is also in a financial position to strengthen if necessary when the transfer window opens in January 2008.

Peter Gadsby and his board of directors will not act irresponsibly, as the club has in its recent history, throwing money at players coming to the end of their careers in an attempt to stay in the Premiership and no matter what happens between now and May 2008, the Rams will be in a better financial position to take the club forward.
