Kenwyn Jones favourite to sign for the Rams
Even though Derby County have had a £5million bid for Southampton striker Kenwyn Jones turned down, it is thought the Rams are now favourite to take the striker from St Mary's.

The Rams position has been strengthened by rivals Sunderland signing Andrew Cole. This does not mean that the Black Cats are out of the running but less likely to be interested in the high price placed on Jones.

Jones himself has made it clear he wants to leave St Mary's and has refused to play in Southampton's game tomorrow against Stoke City. He has also put in an official transfer request.

Southampton and Ex-Rams boss George Burley is said to be very dissapointed in Jones but has accepted he will not be playing in tomorrows game.

Derby meanwhile have to brush themselves down and address tomorrows crunch tie at home to Birmingham City following last weeks 4-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs. Defeat would give the Rams more problems in their bid to stay in the Premiership, Birmingham are one of the three teams most Rams fans think Derby can overhaul to remain in the Division.
