Private Derby Dies

People were in mourning today after Private Derby the four year old Swaldale Ram, mascot of the 2nd Battalion Mercian Regiment (formally the Worcester and Sherwood Forest regiment) passed away.

Private Derby died peacefully of natural causes and the 28th Ram to be mascot of the regiment was sadly missed by all.

The Woofers are now on the look out for Private Derby number 29. He will be chosen from the stock of the Duke of Devonshire and there after will draw his £3.75 per day wage and will have his own rations.
