Andrejs Pereplotkins may be on his way to the Rams right wing position
Paul Jewell is looking into the possibility of bringing Andrejs Pereplotkins, a full Latvian International into the Rams squad before the start of the Championship season at the weekend.

Pereplotkins impressed both Jewell and many of the 9,000 crowd as he played on the right wing for the Rams in Saturdays friendly against FC Utrecht. He played 66 minutes of the game and looked to be what Jewell is looking for, a wide rightsided midfielder.

The Latvian had been at Southampton earlier in his career but red tape over work permits etc meant that the Saints didn't keep him. He now plays for Skonto Riga in the latvian league. His scoring prowess has also impressed those who have been taking an interest, with 22 goals in just 55 games. Andrejs is also a Latvian International playing five times for his country and again getting on the score sheet in one of those games.

Although diminutive in stature, only five feet eight inches tall, he gets stuck in and is not afraid of a challenge, which brings back memories of Archie Gemmill in the sides of the 1970's.

Jewell has said he will seen what can be achieved in his efforts to land the Latvian and is in talks with Skonto Riga for either a season long loan or a permanent transfer to Derby...
